The win (pictured above) came on a dramatic end to season in which Jack Harvey secured the championship and topped a strong season for Harry.

Having worked with Carlin Racing over the course of the season, Harry tweeted recently: “I’ve learnt an incredible amount this season @CarlinRacing and want to thank everyone for all their hard work and dedication. #Thankyouboys”.

Harry is to return to Fortec Motorsport for the Macau Grand Prix: “Every year Macau is tough, but it’s a new [Fortec] car this year so that minimises the disadvantage. It’s very exciting to go with Fortec, especially as they seem very good on low-downforce tracks.”

Harry Tincknell Racing takes twin podiums at Silverstone

Exeter’s Harry Tincknell Racing left Silverstone with a 24-point haul following two drives Harry-Tincknell-Racing-Podium-Silverstonethat took the talented racer to the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series podium when it travelled to the Northamptonshire circuit for rounds 24-26 on 8-9 September 2012.

Returning to the home of the British Grand Prix for the penultimate rounds of the season, Harry had scored more race wins than any previous Carlin Motorsport driver since the season’s half-way point, which has seen him move into a strong sixth position in the championship standings.

Going into the weekend, Harry commented: “Silverstone is one of those circuits that all drivers love to drive. It’s a track that really tests a driver’s skill and along with its history makes it one of the highlights of the British F3 calendar. I am looking forward to adding to my points tally this weekend.”

First podium

Race one of the weekend saw Harry start from sixth on the grid and the talented 20-year-old quickly set about climbing through the field. He ended the race in third and so enjoyed his first podium visit of the weekend.

Second race

A pre-race problem in race two damaged Harry’s chances of adding to his title assault as he was handed a drive-through penalty from the stewards. From the rear of the field Harry then charged to a credible 11th place by the chequered flag.

Final race podium

However the weekend’s feature race gave Harry the opportunity to make up for the morning’s disappointment. Starting from fourth a strong start moved him into second position before eventual race winner Lynn slipped by on lap three. Harry held third for the remainder of the race despite a close battle with Hannes van Asseldonk in the race’s closing stages.

“That was one of the hardest races I’ve ever done,” said Harry. “I am delighted I was able to maintain my position and so can come away from Silverstone with two podiums to my name. I am now looking forward to claiming more podium finishes at Donington Park.”

Harry Tincknell racing rounds 25-27: The weekend in tweets

“Great start and great battle at the end. Happy”

After an exhilarating weekend of racing rounds 25-27 at Silverstone, Harry Tincknell Harry-Tincknell-Racingtweeted on Sunday: “3rd in race 3 from 4th on the grid. Great start and great battle at the end. Happy.”

The final race went to the wire with @CarlinRacing tweeting: “Chequered flag and @jazemanjaafar is p2 to Lynn, @HarryTincknell holds onto p3, @carlosainz p5, @PietroFantin p6, @jack_harvey42 p8”

The weekend got off to a good enough start with Harry commenting: “P5 today in quali. Super close 0.14 off 2nd! Bit disappointed not to be higher but we can do something from there!”

But following a solid 3rd place: “Good day at the office finished 3rd in race one after post race penalties. P7 and P5 for tomorrow, push for more podiums!”

But it was the final race where Harry worked hard to hold 3rd place, with the Carlin team tweeting towards the end: “Fantastic job by @HarryTincknell so far holding off van Asseldonk . @jazemanjaafar still leads 4 minutes to go”.

Racing legend @AllanMcnish added: “Well done @HarryTincknell with a double podium weekend at Silverstone. Last race looked close to say the least!”

So a great double podium weekend for Harry Tincknell racing.

Harry Tincknell to benefit from Strakka driver development initiative

Here at Harry Tincknell Racing we’re all delighted that Harry is going to benefit from Strakka Racing’s announcement of a new initiative to assist drivers in their development.

Strakka Racing, a FIA World Endurance Championship outfit, announced last week that Harry-Tincknell-PortraitBritish F3 racer Harry Tincknell would be the first to benefit from the initiative.

Having sampled the Strakka Performance offering over three days at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona, Harry commented:

“I’m in my second year of Formula 3 and looking to progress into something with more power, like World Series or GP2, and it’s really good to be able to come down to a top Grand Prix circuit like Barcelona and have as much time as I need to build up to speed as quickly or as slowly as I want to.

There is so much more time – on a race weekend I have two forty minute sessions and that’s it, but on Strakka Performance we’re out from 9am until 6pm and you’ve got a lot of time to come in, analyse the data, see where I can improve and go back out again – it’s not rushed like it would be on a normal test day when you have sessions. Plus you’re also free to make all your mistakes here in private and when you go to a race meeting you can put it all together and do a good job.”

Next stop Silverstone!

Reflections during the summer break from the Harry Tincknell Racing team

As we hit the summer break and the sun does its best to break through, we’ve taken someHarry-Tincknell-Racing-Snetterton time to reflect on the season so far. It’s been a thrilling few months with Harry Tincknell currently in sixth place in the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series.

How the season began

Following a highly competitive maiden season in the 2011 Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series, Harry Tincknell set his sights on the 2012 title with reigning champions Carlin Motorsport.  “I’m very excited to be joining Carlin,” said Harry. “I can’t wait to hit the ground running when we go testing with the new cars shortly.”

First wins

Harry then took his first victory of the season when the F3 Series visited Rockingham, Harry-Tincknell-RacingNorthamptonshire, on 9-10 June 2012. Having earned second place on the grid for the sprint race, Harry went from strength to strength, leapfrogging pole-sitter Nick McBride to take the lead at turn one. Determined Harry Tincknell maintained first place for the remainder of the 20-minute race, keeping team-mate Pietro Fantin at bay to take his maiden triumph of 2012 and the second F3 win of his career.

“I’ve been working really hard to improve my starts,” commented Harry. “I’m delighted that it’s paid off. I knew when race two started I just had to get in front by the first corner and that’s exactly what happened. It worked perfectly.”

Further top spots

Harry then secured further podium finishes of the season when the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series visited Brands Hatch, Kent, for rounds 12-14 on 23-24 June 2012. And again atGermany’sNorisring streetcircuit before heading to a further podium top spot at Snetterton in the last race weekend before the summer break.

Next rounds

All of the team are now gearing up for Silverstone before the final rounds atDoningtonPark, both in September.
